QS World University Rankings Lists AU Among the Top 150 Under 50 Years Old
QS World Rankings “Top 50 Under 50,” which lists the best universities in the world under 50 years old, has included AU in the top 150 under 50. Only 8 institutions in the UAE and a total of 16 universities in the Arab World earned a spot on the prestigious list, published on June 21, 2018.

QS Ranks AU Among "Top 1000" Universities Globally – Top 3% in World
For the first time ever, Ajman University has earned a spot in the prestigious QS World University Rankings. Now ranked among the top 1,000 institutions globally, AU sits alongside the top 3% of universities worldwide and the top 2% in the Arab region. The same report also ranks AU among the top 8 in the UAE.

QS Ranks Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman Region as 61st Best Student City in the World
In May 2018, QS World University Rankings listed the Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman region as 61st among the world’s best 100 student cities – the highest ranked location in the Arab world. Ajman earned a spot ahead of many popular European and American destinations for students.

BPharm Program Earns ACPE International Certification

On June 29, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the United States granted international certification to the BPharm program at Ajman University! Only 8 non-American pharmacy colleges (out of 1,945 worldwide) have earned ACPE certification, and only 2 in the UAE. AU proudly joins an elite 0.5% of pharmacy colleges with these credentials.

AU Launches Tech-Savvy College of Medicine

In May, Ajman University launched a College of Medicine that will make use of Artificial Intelligence and Patient Simulators to train future doctors in state-of-the-art examination, communication, treatment techniques. Set to commence studies in September 2018, cohorts will receive a rigorous and innovative six-year education.

AU Chancellor Karim Seghir has accepted an invitation to join the UAE’s highly regarded University Leadership Consortium (ULC), a capacity-building and youth-empowerment collaborative. The ULC seeks to create synergies between stakeholders for knowledge sharing and talent cultivation across the UAE.

Italian Faculty Design Clothing to Soothe Human Senses

Emanuela Corti and Ivan Parati, design lecturers in AU’s College of Engineering, have created a dynamic clothing line capable of muting or sharpening physical sensations depending upon the needs of the wearer. “Sensewear” is geared toward those with sensory processing disorders such as Autism and Asperger syndrome.

Demo Day Showcases Startups; Awards High-Tech Ideas

AU hosted “Demo Day” in April to celebrate the best in the UAE’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and to showcase the latest technology created by startups. Idriss Al Rifai, founder and CEO of Fetchr, delivered a dynamic keynote speech that inspired more than 1,000 attendees to work tirelessly in bringing their imaginations to life.

Students Earn Top Honors from Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers

For the 10th consecutive year, AU students earned the highest honors during the UAE’s Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Student Competition in May. Award-winning AU projects included a smart autonomous vehicle, sign language awareness program, and smart animal farming management system.

AU Signs Landmark Agreement with NYUAD to Create Innovative Alliance

Ajman University signed an agreement in April with New York University Abu Dhabi to foster mutual cooperation in the areas of education and research and to strengthen the potential for innovative academic, artistic and scientific partnerships. The MOU was signed by AU Chancellor Karim Seghir and NYUAD Vice Chancellor Al Bloom in Ajman.

Chancellor Invited to Serve on India’s First Education Rating Advisory Board

AU Chancellor Karim Seghir accepted an invitation from QS to join the International Advisory Board of the very first ratings’ system for Indian higher education. Known as QS I∙GAUGE, the system provides Indian institutions with an opportunity to benchmark performance and to develop strategies for upgrading educational offerings.

“Year of Zayed” Commencement Sends 336 Students into Global Workforce

After the recent graduation ceremony, 336 students from 29 nationalities officially joined the ranks of 36,000 Ajman University alumni on a mission to make meaningful contributions to society. These “Year of Zayed” cohorts – named in honor of the UAE’s founder – are prepared to fulfill his legacy of a smarter, more charitable world.

AU Mobile Dental Clinic Will Deliver Healthcare to Communities

More than 500 dental patients are treated each day at the free dental clinic on AU’s campus. With the recent addition of a state-of-the-art mobile dental unit, these services will be available to people who lack transportation. A special wheelchair lift will provide access to a self-contained facility.

Spring Break Sends AU Students to Serve Vulnerable Populations

Spring break at AU means that lessons from the classroom will go to work for vulnerable communities. This year, more than 50 students and faculty participated in three separate service trips (India, Kenya and Zanzibar) to build playgrounds, deliver dental care, and serve meals in rural orphanages.

More than 1,200 Ajman University stakeholders enjoyed a festive evening in April to raise funds for student scholarships. The “Way to Educate” event generated more than Five Million AED, paving the future for more bright students to attend and excel at AU.

At a ceremonial event at New York University in Abu Dhabi, five AU students and three alumni were inducted into the BUNYAN Knights by H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Honorary Chairman of the University Leadership Consortium.
