Ajman University Wins Zairi International Award for Internationalization

Ajman University won the Zairi International Award for “Internationalization” at the 4th cycle of the Zairi International Awards for Excellence in Higher Education. A delegation led by Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir attended the gala alongside higher-education leaders and changemakers. The award recognizes AU’s commitment to global engagement, advancing diverse voices, ideas, and partnerships, and preparing students to thrive on the international stage.

Three Ajman University Projects Shortlisted for 2025 QS Reimagine Education Awards

Ajman University proudly celebrates being shortlisted for the 2025 QS Reimagine Education Awards, known globally as the “Oscars of Education.” Three innovative AU projects earned recognition this year: Hive (Best Use of Generative AI), a student-led initiative transforming learning through course-aligned AI, created by Adonay Gebremedhin, Nasima Mohammad Helal, and Jon Zaccary Regala, and supervised by Wessam Shehieb, Instructor and Deputy Director of the AU Innovation Center; Systematic Development of an Innovative, Learner-Centered Pediatric Curriculum (Blended & Presence Learning) by Dr. Maryam Amirrad, College of Medicine; and AI Empowerment Studio (AI in Education) by the College of Architecture, Art and Design, led by Toka Mahmoud (Principal Designer) and co-supervised by Omnia Al-Temnah and Dr. Nagla Mahmoud, enhancing creativity and functionality in interior design education. These nominations reflect AU’s global leadership in educational innovation, creativity, and technology-driven learning.

AU LIFT Program Launches with First Cohort

The Teaching and Learning Center launched the AU LIFT Certificate Program—Learning Innovation for Future Teaching. The program aligns with the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation’s Outcome-Based Evaluation Framework and helps faculty strengthen their instructional practice. Over one academic year, participants complete six interactive modules that: align course learning outcomes with program goals; create authentic, performance-based assessments; embed interdisciplinary and experiential learning; incorporate future-ready skills and graduate attributes; and use evidence-informed reflection to improve courses. Faculty engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and reflective practice. AU LIFT advances teaching excellence and equips educators to lead outcome-based, future-ready learning.

Ajman University Launches Youth Council to Empower Students and Advance Sustainability

Ajman University has launched the Ajman University Youth Council, the first of its kind among private universities in the UAE to unite both students and staff under one platform. Established by the Office of Sustainability and supported by the Office of Student Life, the Council reflects AU’s commitment to youth empowerment, sustainability, and community engagement. It aims to empower youth as active contributors to the UAE Green Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through initiatives aligned with the UAE National Youth Agenda and the vision of the wise leadership. Carrying the slogan “Young Energy, Lasting Impact,” the Council embodies AU’s belief in the potential of youth as a driving force for innovation and long-term positive change while fostering collaboration between students, staff, and the wider community.

Ajman University Strengthens Academic Collaboration with the Consulate General of France

Ajman University hosted a courtesy meeting with H.E. Jean-Christophe Paris, Consul General of France in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to explore new avenues for academic collaboration. The discussion focused on student and faculty exchanges, innovative teaching using AI, and joint research under Horizon Europe. The meeting emphasized strengthening ties through Campus France, enhancing employability through AU’s Masar Career Excellence partnerships, and positioning Ajman University as an attractive destination for French students. It also highlighted the shared commitment to developing bilateral research projects that promote innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable collaboration between AU and French institutions.

Ajman University Explores Collaboration with The Medical Office and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City

Ajman University welcomed Dr. Erik Koornneef, Director of Research and Innovation at The Medical Office, and Mr. Omar Adas, Education & Training Supervisor at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City to discuss expanding opportunities for our students. The meeting, held with Prof. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; Prof. Allen Guy Ross, Dean of the College of Medicine; and Prof. Salem Abu Fanas, Dean of the College of Dentistry, focused on creating new avenues for student training, research, and innovation—empowering AU students to gain real-world experience and contribute to the future of healthcare.

Ajman University Students Win Best Poster Award at SRC 2025 Hosted by Zayed University

Students from the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the prestigious Student Research Competition (SRC) 2025, hosted by Zayed University. Their project, titled Real-Time Driver Drowsiness Detection System, was developed by Lujain Thouqan, Hala Kahwajy, Asma Luai, and Judi Chibly, under the supervision of Prof. Salam Fraihat. The competition brought together top student researchers from nine countries, including the UAE, KSA, Egypt, USA, Poland, and India, representing 49 universities and 289 submissions. This achievement highlights the dedication and innovation of Ajman University students and reaffirms the University’s commitment to excellence in research and global academic engagement.

Ajman University Hosts Student Club Fair

Ajman University hosted the Student Club Fair, organized by the Office of Student Life under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Services. The fair brought together more than 120 clubs, allowing students to explore new interests, join communities, and discover leadership and service opportunities beyond the classroom. The event set the tone for a year of student-led initiatives, collaboration, and vibrant campus life.

The Center for Inclusive Learning Hosts Braille Training for University Staff

The Center for Inclusive Learning hosted a training program on the basics of Braille for university staff. Led by AU alumna Raneem Hamoudeh, a graduate of determination, the session fostered empathy, inclusion, and a deeper appreciation for alternative forms of communication, reflecting AU’s commitment to accessibility and a supportive learning environment for all.

The Office of Medical Services Promotes Wellness with Free Skincare Camp

The Office of Medical Services, in collaboration with Thumbay University Hospital, organized a Free Skincare Camp exclusively for the AU community. The event offered free dermatology consultations, skin analysis, discounted vouchers, and exclusive gifts for attendees. It attracted strong participation from students, faculty, and staff, reflecting growing awareness of proactive skin health. Participants expressed high satisfaction with the professionalism, personalized advice, and overall value of the initiative. The collaboration underscores the Office of Medical Services’ ongoing commitment to promoting health, preventive care, and community wellbeing, while encouraging healthier lifestyle practices among its members.

Ajman University Inspires Future Students at Najah Dubai 2025

Ajman University proudly participated in Najah Dubai 2025, showcasing its wide range of academic programs and scholarship opportunities to prospective students. The exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. During an engaging session titled “Be Career Ready with Ajman University,” AU inspired future learners to take confident steps toward their professional journeys. The event provided a dynamic platform to connect with, engage, and empower the next generation of AU students.

Ajman University Welcomes Distinguished Prof. Muhammad J. A. Shiddiky from Charles Sturt University

Ajman University was honored to welcome Distinguished Prof. Muhammad J. A. Shiddiky (FRSC, FRACI) from Charles Sturt University, Australia — an internationally recognized leader in nanotechnology and translational diagnostics. During his visit, Prof. Shiddiky delivered open talks to AU students, explored new opportunities for collaborative research with our faculty, and shared insights from his pioneering work in biosensing, nanotechnology, and disease detection. His research continues to drive advancements in healthcare, agriculture, and biosecurity worldwide. His visit reflects Ajman University’s commitment to fostering global collaborations and promoting excellence in research and education.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering Welcomes New Students through BME Connect

The Department of Biomedical Engineering welcomed new students through BME Connect, an event designed to foster connections and prepare them for their academic journey. The program introduced faculty members and engineers, provided an overview of the BME study plan, highlighted the BME Club, and concluded with an engaging activity. The event offered students the opportunity to meet their professors, connect with peers, and gain valuable insights from senior students, setting the stage for a successful start in Biomedical Engineering.

Community at Heart

The Office of Community Engagement Celebrates World Teachers’ Day

The Office of Community Engagement marked World Teachers’ Day by organizing a hands-on initiative at a charity school in Ajman. AU students redesigned and refurbished the teachers’ staff room in a single day, creating a more welcoming space and showing appreciation for teachers. The project also strengthened students’ sense of service and teamwork. This initiative reflects the Office of Community Engagement’s commitment to addressing community needs and making a meaningful impact.
