Dr. Karim Seghir Speaks at THE Arab Universities Summit

Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, spoke at the Times Higher Education Arab Universities Summit hosted by the University of Dubai. Dr. Khaled Assaleh Participates in a Panel Discussion at THE Arab University Summit

Dr. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, participated in the panel discussion on "The Challenges and Successes of Industry-Supported Research" at the THE Arab University Summit. Dr. Assaleh explored how academia-industry collaborations can drive innovation, overcome organizational challenges, and contribute to economic and societal progress. The session also highlighted opportunities in emerging sectors such as renewable energy and biotechnology.


Alaa Al Amiry Receives Membership of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (MFNMRCSI) 

Alaa Al Amiry, Senior Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, has been granted Membership of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (MFNMRCSI). Awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)—a globally renowned institution at the forefront of medical and healthcare advancements—this recognition reflects her exceptional expertise and dedication to advancing healthcare education.

This achievement enhances Al Amiry’s ability to bring global standards of excellence to her teaching and mentorship, directly benefiting her students and enriching their educational experience.

Dalia Sharaf Leads Groundbreaking Dental Research Published in Q1 Journal

Dalya Sharaf, Lab Engineer at the College of Dentistry, co-authored a groundbreaking research study titled "Preventive Potential of Arginine Incorporated in Fancy Waters for Erosive Tooth Wear." The research utilized advanced micro-CT technology to analyze the effectiveness of arginine-enriched fancy waters in preventing tooth wear, offering promising insights for advancing preventive dental care practices. With specialized certifications and advanced training in micro-CT operations from SCANCO Medical, Switzerland, Dalya Sharaf led the project, which was funded by the Deanship of Research and Graduate Studies. Published in the Journal of Dentistry, a prestigious Q1-ranked journal, this study underscores the College of Dentistry’s commitment to impactful research and innovation in oral health sciences.

Dr. Muna Salameh Speaks at Big 5 Global Expo’s “Everything Architecture” Program

Dr. Muna Salameh, participated at the "Everything Architecture" program during the Big 5 Global Expo, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Her presentation, titled "Designing for the Needs of Modern Society: Climate Resiliency, Sustainability, and Mobility," explored how architectural design must evolve to address the pressing needs of the future.  Dr. Salameh's session covered adapting design for future needs, addressing current design limitations, and exploring renovation opportunities to align structures with sustainability goals. This reflects her commitment to advancing sustainable architectural practices and shaping the future of the built environment.

Ajman University Earns QS Reimagine Education Award 2024 for Pioneering Sustainability Initiative

Ajman University has won the prestigious QS Reimagine Education Award 2024 for "Sustainability Education Action." This accolade was awarded in recognition of the University's groundbreaking initiative, the ‘Greening Communities: Mangrove Planting Project.’ The project's objectives align with the UAE's national plan to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030. Spearheaded by Ajman University's Office of Sustainability, in partnership with Al Zorah Development Private Company and Quest for Adventure. This honor underscores the University's commitment to environmental sustainability and its dedication to empowering youth and communities with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive the UAE’s ambitious sustainability goals.

The Office of Sustainability and the Office of Community Engagement Join Clean UAE 2024 Campaign

The Office of Sustainability and the Office of Community Engagement participated in the Clean UAE 2024 campaign, encouraging the AU community and their families to join the initiative. Ajman University Student Showcases Groundbreaking Air Quality Improvement Project at COP29

Ajman University undergraduate Doaa Al Alimi made an impressive impact at COP29 in Baku with her award-winning air quality improvement solution. Showcased at the UAE Pavilion, her project, the Electric Green Pot, was designed in collaboration with Shaima Hussein and Bibi Hashimi. The project addresses air pollution and promotes agricultural sustainability.

The College of Architecture, Art, and Design's Lighting Lab has received an 'Honorable Mention' at the prestigious 2024 LIT Lighting Design Awards, a significant recognition for design innovation in the Middle East. This recognition celebrates the lab's excellence in lighting design and its ground-breaking contribution to design education. Led by Dr. Naglaa Mahmoud as the Lead Designer and Omnia Ahmed as the Designer, the state-of-the-art facility at the College of Architecture, Art, and Design is the Arab world's first specialized lighting laboratory, setting new standards in design education.

The College of Humanities and Sciences Organizes a Cultural Initiative to Promote Emirati Heritage Among Students

The Department of Sociology at the College of Humanities and Sciences organized a cultural initiative at the Al-Shohouh Association for Culture and Heritage in Ras Al Khaimah, led by Abdalla Al Malak and supervised by Dr. Nagwa Yousif, Assistant Professor at the college. The initiative aimed to promote Emirati heritage among students through interactive presentations and the revival of traditional arts like Rawah and Nadba. Thirteen students participated, deepening their understanding of UAE customs and traditions and engaging with heritage experts. The initiative fostered national pride, cultural appreciation, and the importance of preserving Emirati heritage.

Ajman University’s Center for Inclusive Learning, in collaboration with the Counseling Unit, hosted a special celebration for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The Department of Language and Culture Organizes a Visit to Abu Dhabi Art Fair

The Department of Language and Culture at the College of Humanities and Sciences organized a visit to the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, led by Insaf Chahdoura, Lecturer in Arts, Theater, and Aesthetics. The fair, which brings together local and international galleries, offered students a chance to explore various modern art forms and learn about the role of art in society and cultural expression. Students enrolled in the Introduction to Arts course were able to critically analyze art styles, trends, and movements by examining the elements and principles of the displayed artworks.

The College of Medicine Strengthens Collaboration with Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, Fujairah

Dr. Solomon, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Amer Al Ani, Head of Clinical and Medical Training at the College of Medicine, visited Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the hospital's state-of-the-art facilities and discussions about future collaboration in medical training, research partnerships, and experience exchange. This collaboration is set to offer Ajman University’s medical students a unique and enriching experience, enhancing their practical skills and exposure to advanced medical practices at a premier healthcare institution.

The Management Department Hosts 'Career Success' Workshop 

The Management Department at the College of Business Administration, in collaboration with Injaz, welcomed Abhishek Shukla, an international speaker, author, political consultant, and global management trainer. Shukla conducted a workshop on "Career Success," for business students as part of the Business English course led by Hanaa Mansour. The workshop covered essential topics such as job hunting, interview skills, aligning careers with purpose, and strengthening online presence. He also emphasized professionalism and résumé crafting, offering valuable insights to help students enhance their employability and effectively present themselves in the job market.

The College of Mass Communication hosted a seminar on experimental research, presented by Prof. Sang Lee, Coordinator of Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communication. The seminar, organized by the College’s Research Committee, focused on key challenges in conducting effective research, including participant recruitment, data analysis, and utilizing online platforms.

The Department of Language and Culture Organizes a Visit to Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization

The Department of Language and Culture at the College of Humanities and Sciences organized a visit to Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, an important cultural and touristic landmark. The visit was a great opportunity for students in the “Introduction to Arts” course to learn about Islamic Art. Insaf Chahdoura, Lecturer in Arts, Theater, and Aesthetics, guided students through the rich history and the aesthetic significance of Islamic art, emphasizing its cultural values, spiritual symbolism, and influence on how Muslims view the universe. Two exchange students, majoring in Islamic Arabic studies, participated in the visit and expressed their appreciation for this unique artistic experience.

The College of Mass Communication participated in the activities of the international scientific conference titled "The Media Content Industry: Between Institutional Media and Social Media – Issues of Integration and Competition," organized by the College of Communication at Al Qasimia University in Sharjah. Dr. Nasruddin Ali and Dr. Amal Badr presented a joint research paper titled "The Reality of Teaching Public Relations Curricula in Light of Artificial Intelligence Developments."

During the 2024 Sharjah International Book Fair, Dr. Nagwa Yousif, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, moderated a seminar titled "Positive Steps to Raising Your Child" as part of the cultural program, organized by the Sociological Association in Sharjah. Dr. Yousif co-hosted the session with Dr. Hala Al-Alablam, a board member of the Sociological Association and Director of Wesal Consulting. The seminar aimed to provide parents with strategies for positive parenting, emphasizing balanced child development, effective communication, and enhancing children's social, psychological, and emotional well-being.

Community at Heart

The Office of Medical Services and the Office of Community Engagement Offer Free Carbon Monoxide Breath Tests 

The Office of Medical Services and the Office of Community Engagement have partnered to promote health and well-being by offering free carbon monoxide breath tests using the Smokerlyzer. This initiative aims to support smoking cessation and raise awareness about the dangers of smoking. Around 10 individuals benefit from this service monthly in a private, secure clinic setting. Participants receive documented results to track their progress, and the initiative encouraged a healthier, smoke-free lifestyle within the AU community.
