Ajman University Celebrates QS Arab Region Rankings 2025

Ajman University celebrated a new achievement that positions it among the leading universities on both the international and regional levels, having made significant progress in the QS Arab Region Rankings for 2025. The event was attended by Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ashwin Fernandez, Executive Director of QS in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, and Dr. Habib Fardoun, Principal Consultant at QS. This milestone reflects the University's commitment to academic excellence and innovation in higher education.

Ajman University Hosts Workshop on "Professional Development for Quality Assurance Leaders in Higher Education," Organized by the Commission for Academic Accreditation

Ajman University hosted a workshop titled "Professional Development for Quality Assurance Leaders in Higher Education" from October 28 to 30, 2024, organized by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) at the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event brought together a distinguished group of experts and specialists in higher education quality from across the country. The workshop included discussions on key quality assurance topics, such as updates to the QFEmirates framework, strategic planning, sustainability, and risk assessment. In conclusion, Dr. Seghir, alongside Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousef Baniyas, Higher Education Advisor and Director of the CAA, honored the participants, recognizing their efforts and dedication to enhancing the quality of higher education.

Ajman University Signed an MoU with Zayed University

Ajman University signed an MoU with Zayed University and the American University of Sharjah to boost academic collaboration. Formalized at the 7th Bluenotes Conference, the agreement aims to improve academic quality, research, and institutional growth. It establishes the Higher Education Benchmarking Consortium for regional and global data sharing. The MoU includes joint research, faculty exchanges, and student mobility, fostering continuous improvement and alignment with global standards, enhancing student skills and elevating UAE higher education quality.

Dr. Muna Salameh Joins the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability as a Member of the International Panel of Sustainability Experts

Dr. Muna Salameh, Senior Lecturer at the College of Architecture, Art and Design, has joined the ranks of the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability (GAoS), becoming a certified member of the International Panel of Sustainability Experts. GAoS, an international non-profit network and think tank registered in Canada, is dedicated to promoting sustainability. Since its launch in August 2020, GAoS has partnered with numerous institutions to deliver impactful training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions. This prestigious membership, granted by the Global Green Chamber of Commerce, reflects Dr. Salameh’s dedication to advancing global sustainability and environmental awareness.

Ajman University Students Innovate an Advanced X-Ray Technology for Diagnosing Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Three Ajman University engineering students, Sidra Zuleikha, Ahmed Al-Mansoori, and Fatima Al-Hosani, developed a Chest X-Ray Screening Software for Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) under the guidance of Dr. Mujeeb Rahman and Eng. Sharaz Ali. Utilizing advanced machine learning algorithms, the software accurately distinguishes TB from similar pulmonary conditions, improving diagnosis speed and accuracy in healthcare settings.

The Office of Student Life Honors the Winning Clubs at the Club Fair

The Office of Student Life at Ajman University organized an event to honor the winning clubs at the Club Fair. Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, honored the winning clubs in the presence of Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services, and Dr. Mohamed Helal, Director of Student Life. The students excelled at the clubs’ exhibition, presenting a diverse array of booths that highlighted their activities and innovative projects. Visitors had the chance to explore the goals and visions that each club aims to achieve, showcasing the University’s dedication to fostering student engagement and promoting a spirit of collaboration among its members.

Ajman University Participates as the Education Partner in the IEEE ICIP 2024

In line with its vision and mission of excellence and leadership, Ajman University participated as an educational partner in the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), organized by the Signal Processing Society (SPS). The conference was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from October 27 to 30, 2024.
Ajman University's participation in this international conference reflects its commitment to its academic and societal roles and its ongoing support for scientific and technological advancement.

Dr. Rasha Abdelrahman Discusses Mental Health Trends at the 10th My Health Conference

Dr. Rasha Abdelrahman, Assistant Professor and Head of the Psychology Department, participated in the 10th My Health Conference at the University of Sharjah, organized by the Health Education Department under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. In her presentation, she addressed societal trends and the stigma surrounding mental health, noting improved perceptions since the Covid-19 crisis. Dr. Rasha highlighted the need for a psychologically safe society, the incorporation of mental health concepts into educational curricula, and the enhancement of counseling roles in educational institutions. The conference provided a valuable platform for exchanging scientific ideas among numerous professors and researchers from various countries.

Dr. Hafez Shurrab Publishes His Research on Unravelling Supply Chain Complexity in Maintenance Operations of Battery Production

Dr. Hafez Shurrab, Assistant Professor at the College of Business Administration, has published his latest research paper, "Unravelling Supply Chain Complexity in Maintenance Operations of Battery Production," in the prestigious journal Production Planning & Control (ABS 3, Q1). This study introduces a practical framework to tackle the complexities in maintenance operations within Europe’s lithium-ion battery sector, offering valuable insights for industry practitioners. Dr. Shurrab's research underscores the potential impact of supply chain complexity (SCC) on maintenance operations in battery production and provides actionable guidance for managing this complexity.

The College of Mass Communication Hosts a Seminar on Advanced NVivo 15 for Research Analysis

As part of its ongoing efforts to adopt the latest technological tools and enhance research skills, the Scientific Research Committee at the College of Mass Communication organized a seminar on NVivo 15 software. Dr. Samar Ben Romdhane, Assistant Professor at the college, led the session, demonstrating how NVivo 15 aids in coding and analyzing qualitative data, including text, audio, and video. She highlighted the program's capabilities in text analysis, semantic networks, and social media data analysis, while emphasizing the importance of ethical research practices. This seminar reaffirmed the college’s commitment to fostering an innovative educational environment that aligns with rapid advancements in research technology.

From Wisdom to Wildlife: Exchange Students' Cultural Journey in the UAE

In line with the Office of International Academic Affairs' commitment to fostering cultural integration and global understanding, the office organized an enriching experience for exchange students. The journey began with a visit to the House of Wisdom, a modern library known for its relaxing atmosphere and innovative learning resources. The adventure continued at the Wildlife Park, where students explored historical plants and botanical gardens. These experiences not only enrich students' time abroad but also reinforce the University’s reputation as a welcoming and culturally engaging institution for international students.

This interaction underscored the University’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering educational pathways for aspiring students.

The Psychology Department Hosts Workshop on Preparing Behavior Modification Plan

Ms. Amasi Taj Al-Sir, a psychological specialist and educational expert from the Salma Center for Special Education, led a workshop for Psychology Department students titled "How to Prepare a Behavior Modification Plan." The session covered the steps and stages of developing a behavior modification plan, using examples and models to address issues such as lying, lack of motivation to study, neglect, and stubbornness. Engaging 45 students, participants actively asked questions and contributed to discussions throughout the workshop.

The Counseling Unit Launches 'Ataa' Initiative 

The Counseling Unit launched "Ataa" initiative, a heartfelt project aimed at giving back to the community by sharing students' talents. Led by Dr. Dalia Bedewy, the initiative kicked off at Al Shola Private School in Ajman, where AU student Abdul Razzak Ali Alhazir, a talented artist from the Psychology Department, taught young students painting techniques, encouraging them to express themselves through art. The initiative reflects the Counseling Unit's and Ajman University’s commitment to community engagement, showcasing the positive impact of student-led volunteer efforts in inspiring creativity and building meaningful connections.

Mr. Firas Noori Presents 'AI and Architecture' at Autodesk University

Mr. Firas Noori, Senior Lecturer at the College of Architecture, Art and Design, delivered a presentation titled 'AI and Architecture' as part of the Autodesk University Spotlight Arabic Sessions. The session highlighted his work in integrating AI into Ajman University’s curriculum, enhancing Building Information Modeling and Parametric/Generative Design courses with advanced tools to achieve efficient, high-quality renderings. The College of Humanities and Sciences welcomed Dr. Saeed Al-Taniji, a Family Counselor and Trainer, who delivered a workshop titled “Best Ways to Deal with Young People.” The workshop aimed to enhance students' skills for the labor market. Discussions focused on addressing adolescent behavior, promoting proper social interactions, and emphasizing family stability and community cohesion to develop effective communication skills vital for sustainable development.

Ajman University’s College of Law Organizes Lecture on Judicial Enforcement Procedures in the UAE

The College of Law , in collaboration with Al Tamimi & Co, hosted a lecture titled "Judicial Enforcement Procedures in the UAE" to enhance student skills and legal knowledge. Presented by Mr. Majd Baroudi and Mr. Nasser Yahia, both Senior Counsel in Litigation, the session explored practical enforcement procedures and real-world cases, strengthening students' critical thinking and bridging academic learning with practical application. This experience prepared students for future roles through comprehensive discussions and case studies.

The Office of Community Engagement in Collaboration with the College of Business Administration Organizes First Knowledge Session on Volunteering

Upon the invitation of Dr. Hajer Kratou from the College of Business Administration, the Office of Community Engagement organized its first knowledge session on volunteering, showcasing its impact and available opportunities. The session provided guidance on the registration process, awards, and upcoming activities, and concluded with a brainstorming segment to collect students' ideas for future campus initiatives.  The office is willing to organize more sessions; for requests and further involvement, please reach out to the Office.

The College of Architecture, Art, and Design Hosts 2nd Sustainable Week

Ajman University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Design hosted its second Sustainable Week, dedicated to promoting sustainable practices in architecture. The event featured various workshops and sessions that highlighted key sustainability principles and their applications, such as the use of recycled materials in design. The program also included a keynote address from Prof. Dr. Khaled Galal Ahmed, Coor`tor of the MSc and PhD Programs in Architectural Engineering at UAE University. The event reinforced the importance of integrating sustainability into the architectural curriculum, empowering the next generation of architects to build a more sustainable future.

The College of Business Participates in Youth Impact Lab 2024

The College of Business participated in the Youth Impact Lab 2024 event with a team of female students, organized by the Pearl Initiative; an organization developed in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships aiming to influence and improve corporate accountability and transparency. In partnership with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the event focused on generating solutions aligned with four UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AU’s “Unbiased” team concentrated on addressing gender equality. Held at Middlesex University Dubai, the event provided participants with mentorship from industry leaders, including PwC and Dubai Holding. The aim was to equip students with a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges and to foster innovative solutions, enhancing their employability skills for future careers.
