Ajman University Welcomes New Faculty Members |

Ajman University welcomed 25 new faculty members representing 16 different nationalities. They have embarked on a comprehensive and engaging orientation program, where they were warmly greeted by the Chancellor, Cabinet members, Deans, and Directors/Managers. This program introduced them to the array of academic and administrative services that our University offers. In his address, Dr. Seghir expressed enthusiasm for this new chapter in their academic careers and emphasized the vital role they will play in advancing knowledge and shaping future leaders. He also highlighted the University’s recent milestones, including its QS World Ranking of #477 globally, its top ranking in the UAE for employer reputation, and its transition to non-profit status. Additionally, Dr. Seghir celebrated the University’s remarkable growth in research, with 1,240 Scopus-indexed publications in 2023. He extended his congratulations to the new faculty and wished them a fulfilling journey at Ajman University. |

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Abeer Alghananeem as the new Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. Alghananeem brings a distinguished background in academic leadership, having previously served as an Academic Leadership Fellow with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and as Past Chair and Commissioner of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education International Services Program. Her recent position was as Professor and Associate Dean of Research at Sullivan University. Additionally, Dr. Alghananeem is the Global Lead for Quality Assurance at the International Pharmaceutical Federation and serves as Associate Editor for the FIP Pharmacy Education Journal. We are confident that her expertise in global health initiatives will lead the college to continued excellence and innovation. |

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Fares Howari as the new Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences. Dr. Howari has held significant academic leadership roles, including Dean at Fort Valley State University. His distinguished career includes significant administrative roles and the development of academic programs, notably during his time at universities in the United Arab Emirates. Among his achievements is the successful development of a U.S.-modeled academic program at Zayed University, accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. With strong background in environmental science, including positions at the Center for International Energy and Environmental Policy and the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Howari's expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of the College of Humanities and Sciences. |

Ms. Jawaher Alshehhi, Head of Community Services at the Office of Community Engagement, has successfully graduated from the UAE National Identity Ambassadors Program. This program, launched by the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, focuses on reinforcing national identity, respect for the constitution, and Emirati values among young Emiratis. It aims to enhance the reputation of Emirati youth and promote principles of national belonging, loyalty, and good citizenship.

Dr. Amer Al Ani, Clinical Assistant Professor and Head of Clinical and Medical Education at Ajman University’s College of Medicine, presented two studies at the 50th World Congress of the International Society of Surgery in Kuala Lumpur. One of his presentations was recognized by the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) and the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) as one of the top six abstracts in Trauma, Burns, and Acute Care Surgery/Emergency Surgery. It was also featured in the IATSIC/AAST Scientific Paper Session. This recognition underscores Dr. Al Ani’s significant contributions to the field and his engagement with global experts. |

Ajman University’s Bachelor of Science in Accounting program has received international accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). This accreditation grants graduates 8 exemptions out of 9 in ACCA qualification exams, covering key areas such as Business and Technology, Management Accounting, and Financial Accounting. This recognition significantly enhances the global employability of our graduates, making them highly eligible for chartered accountant roles worldwide. |

The event featured inspiring sessions, including "Her Story, Her Strength." Another session, titled "Inspiring Journeys of AU Emirati Women," showcased remarkable achievements from representatives of various institutions.

The Student Success Center's "Academic Advising Workshop" for AU faculty featured Prof. Nadir Kheir, Manager of the Student Success Center and Faculty at the College of Pharmacy, presenting the updated Academic Advising Policy, followed by a Q&A session. Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan, PhD, Founding President and Board Member at the Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, addressed the challenges of academic integrity amid Generative AI and contract cheating, offering practical prevention strategies. The workshop concluded with Ms. Katya Burfitt, Regional Director at Studiosity, and Ms. Khansha Siddiqui, Partnerships Manager at Studiosity, introducing Studiosity Plus, highlighting its features and integration into academic advising. Participants gained insights into the new policy, strategies for upholding academic integrity, and skills for using Studiosity Plus. |

The Office of Community Engagement successfully organized the "Donate Your Time" initiative, assembling 1,300 stationery bags for students at Manar Al Eman Charity School as part of the "Back to School" campaign. Seven dedicated volunteers contributed a total of 58 hours to this effort, resulting in the creation and distribution of 1,050 bags. This initiative highlights the office's ongoing commitment to supporting education and fostering community involvement. |
