Dr. Karim Seghir Advocates Employability at QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference

Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, delivered an insightful presentation at the 2023 QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference, held at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi. In a session titled “Charting the Course: Tailoring Curriculum for Emerging Skills,” Dr. Seghir emphasized the pivotal role of universities in preparing career-ready graduates, naming Masar Career Excellence as an example. He also stressed the importance of fostering both soft and hard skills in students and discussed the significant impact of involving industry professionals as co-educators to help reduce unemployment rates in the MENA region. Ajman University, serving as an education sponsor, demonstrated its commitment to educational excellence and employability. The conference, which spanned three days, also featured active participation from Ajman University delegates Dr. Akram Ashames, Dr. Tizreena Ismail, Mohamed Abdelhady, and Mohsin Aboobaker.

Dr. Muna Salameh and Ayat Elkazendar have orchestrated an exhibition for first-year students titled "My Journey from Point to Pavilion". This showcase highlights the remarkable accomplishments and projects of our students throughout the semester. It encapsulates their exploration of architectural vocabulary and principles, guiding them in designing both abstract and tangible spaces. The journey embarked with a focus on a singular point and culminated in the creation of a tangible pavilion. Additionally, we were honored to have visitors from Sharjah University, including Dr. Nadia Al Badri and alumni students.

Emerging Media Talent: Students Showcase Diverse Graduation Projects on Sustainability and Technology 

Students majoring in Radio and TV Production showcased their graduation projects under the guidance of Dr. Amal Badr. The array of projects was impressively diverse, encompassing video clips, documentaries, and advertisements, each uniquely focusing on critical and contemporary themes like sustainability, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. This presentation not only highlighted the creative and technical skills of the students but also underscored the relevance of their work in addressing some of today's most pressing issues.

The Psychology Department Leads an Outreach Initiative at Al Shola American School

A group of students from the Psychology Department, led by Dr. Rasha Abdelrahman, embarked on an inspiring initiative titled "The Journey of Self-Awareness" with their first visit to Al Shola American School. This outreach program, driven by the department's outstanding female students, focused on engaging discussions about adolescence, its challenges, self-awareness, and self-esteem. The students' exceptional presentation and discussion skills made a profound impact, captivating both the school students and educators. The Student Success Center organized EmSAT English Exam Preparation Workshops tailored for each college. These sessions aimed to assist students in preparing for the English Proficiency Exam by offering valuable tips on language skills and providing sample exams. The workshops were free of charge, offering students an opportunity to refine and enhance their readiness for the upcoming examinations.

Prof. Nadir Kheir Leads Discussion on Women's Role in STEM and Climate Action

Prof. Nadir Kheir, faculty at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Manager of the Student Success Center, participated as a keynote speaker in a the session titled "The remaining 50%: Bringing women and girls into climate action dialogue” at COP28. He led insightful discussions with faculty, students, and counselors about the crucial role of women in STEM education. The session, which attracted a substantial audience, focused on the indispensable contributions of women in STEM, especially in combating climate change. It delved into how universities and other stakeholders can effectively support and enhance women's and girls' involvement in STEM, thereby increasing their participation in climate action and sustainability efforts. This event highlighted the importance of gender inclusivity in environmental problem-solving and decision-making processes.
