Ajman University Ranks #28 in Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings

Ajman University has shown significant progress in the Times Higher Education (THE) Arab University Rankings 2023, climbing over 20 places to secure the 28th position in the Arab region. This marks a substantial improvement from its previous ranking in the 51-60 range last year. Within the UAE, AU now ranks 8th, showcasing its strengthening presence in the prestigious THE Arab Universities Ranking.

Prof. Mustahsan Mir Leads Program-Level Benchmarking Workshop at Explorance Bluenotes MENA 2023 Conference

Prof. Mustahsan Mir conducted a workshop on Program-Level Benchmarking in Dubai as part of the Explorance Bluenotes MENA 2023 conference. The workshop was attended by quality assurance experts from 18 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across 4 countries. In this workshop, Prof. Mir discussed the major issues to be considered in developing program-level benchmarking. He also introduced a number of program-level benchmarking indicators. This led to a very constructive discussion that was concluded with the formation of four working groups from various HEIs. This workshop was a continuation of an earlier workshop on Institutional-Level Benchmarking that was organized by Explorance in 2022. It is worth noting that Ajman University is one of the five founding institutions of Higher Education Benchmarking Consortium (HEBC) that now includes more than 25 HEIs from 6 countries.

Dr. Muna Salameh Earns Elsevier Recognition for Impactful Research

Dr. Muna Salameh, Assistant Professor at the College of Architecture, Art and Design, received acclaim from Elsevier for her open-access paper. Her research, linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addresses global challenges. Specifically, it contributes to SDG 8 (economic growth and employment) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities). This alignment with SDGs signifies a commitment to impactful global problem-solving. Such academic work offers insights and solutions for critical social, economic, and environmental issues worldwide.

Firas Noori Shares Insights at University of Texas on Computer-Aided Design

Firas Noori, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, was hosted by the University of Texas, Arlington, as a guest speaker. Invited to contribute to their course on computer-aided design in Civil Engineering, Firas Noori imparted his extensive knowledge and expertise in the field. His session provided students with valuable insights into the practical applications of computer-aided design in modern architecture and civil engineering, highlighting the integration of technology in shaping contemporary structures. This engagement not only reinforced our faculty's reputation in the academic community but also fostered a valuable exchange of knowledge and ideas between institutions.

Amina Wahid Honored for her Leadership at Explorance Bluenotes MENA 2023 Conference

Amina Wahid, Senior Institutional Effectiveness Officer at the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, has been recognized at the Explorance Bluenotes MENA 2023 conference. She received an honor certificate for her leadership and mastery of the Explorance Blue platform, highlighting her commitment to delivering academic excellence with a special focus on women's empowerment. Further demonstrating her expertise, Amina also presented on Leveraging Survey Results for Continuous Improvement and Strategy Development – Ajman University's Success Story.

Ajman University Celebrates the UAE 52nd Union Day

 

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Ajman University celebrated the UAE's 52nd Union Day at Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences & Exhibitions. Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of AU, and Cabinet Members attended the event, which featured diverse contributions from artists, military and musicians bands and government entities. The event also included contributions from heritage organizations, showcasing the UAE's traditions. Furthermore, various colleges and departments of the university participated, adding a comprehensive touch that reflects the high sense of belonging to the UAE.

The AUIC Launches the Idea Competition: Ideation Phase 2023-2024

 

The AU Innovation Center initiated the Idea Competition: Ideation Phase 2023-2024, fostering creativity among AU students and global startups. The event included idea presentations by 24 startups, including external startups and AU students, as well as female school students. Initial evaluations were completed, with the final assessment for the Idea Competition: The Final Pitch scheduled for February 2024.


The Office of Strategic Communications, Marketing & Student Recruitment Participates in the National School University Fair

The Office of Strategic Communications, Marketing & Student Recruitment at Ajman University actively participated in the National School University Fair in Al Ain, alongside 27 other universities. This engagement highlights the Office's dedication to attracting students and enriching their academic and career orientations. The team focused on guiding attendees, introducing them to the University's programs, study system, and its advanced academic and technological infrastructure designed to meet diverse academic needs. The event was not only successful but also received coverage by the Emirates news Agency (WAM). In conclusion, Ajman University's effective participation in the fair led to it being honored for its involvement.

The College of Medicine Organizes a Workshop on Translating Theory to Practice

The College of Medicine organized a workshop focused on the design, facilitation, and debriefing of simulations at the Healthcare Simulation and Clinical Competence Center. This event provided healthcare professionals and students with valuable insights into effective training methods, aiming to elevate clinical competence within the medical field. Attendees experienced an interactive and enriching session, fostering the enhancement of skills in simulated scenarios.

Ajman University is Participating in the Conference of Youth (COY18)

As the world counts on COP28 for climate change solutions and the countdown to it shortens, Ajman University (AU) is excited to be a part of this seminal event on Climate Change.

The Conference of Youth (COY18), a UN-mandated conference is preparing students to contribute to COP28 and make their voices heard in policy-making. As a knowledge partner, AU will deliver a session on how youth-led initiatives can contribute to tackling global climate change on November 27. Leading the discussion titled "Climate Changers: Youth-led Solutions for a Greener Future" will be Maya Haddad, Sustainability Manager; Mohammed Balila, Senior Lecturer; and students Hurairah Muzammil, Dana Binmahmood, Mesk Al-Hammadi, Itemat Sauria, and Aya Ochi.

Engineering and IT Students Gear Up for Inter-College Environmental Speaking Contest

In an impressive display of advocacy and academic excellence, students from the Colleges of Engineering and IT at our university are set to participate in the prestigious Intercollege Environmental Public Speaking Competition. Organized by the Emirates Environmental Group, this competition offers a vital platform for students from across the region to delve into critical environmental issues. Our students are preparing to present their insights on the challenging topic of the environmental impacts of multinational corporations versus economic growth.

The Office of Medical Services Celebrates World Diabetes Day

 

The Office of Medical Services hosted a diabetes awareness event to celebrate World Diabetes Day. Focused on the theme "Access to Diabetes Care," the event included a Walkathon, educational sessions on diabetes prevention, and health screenings for the AU community. The formation of a Blue Circle, symbolizing diabetes awareness, underscored the event's emphasis on healthy lifestyle choices to prevent diabetes. Additionally, all screenings are free of charge and available to the entire AU community throughout November, reinforcing the University's commitment to ongoing health education and prevention.

The College of Law Hosts a Lecture on the Practical Aspects of Civil Litigation Procedures

The College of Law organized a lecture titled "Practical Aspects of Civil Litigation Procedures." Presented by the esteemed Judge Salem Mohammed Al Qaydi, Chief of the Real Estate Court in Dubai, the session aimed to enhance students' understanding of recent developments in the UAE Civil Procedure Law No. 42 of 2022, focusing on practical application and addressing potential challenges.
