Ajman University's Women Empowerment Council Welcomes New Members for 2023-24

Chaired by Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services, Ajman University's Women Empowerment Council kicked off the academic year 2023-24 with its first meeting, welcoming a diverse group of new members from its student body, staff, and faculty. The council is dedicated to championing women's leadership and amplifying female voices throughout the university, outlining a strong agenda to drive change and encourage gender equality in all university facets.

The first meeting set the tone for a year of proactive engagement. With a mission to foster an environment that nurtures the aspirations of women, the Council's roadmap for the year highlighted workshops, mentorship programs, and strategic partnerships, all aimed at cultivating a culture of empowerment and recognizing the contributions of women in shaping a progressive educational institution.

Mohamed Abdullah Al Kaabi Appointed as the Executive Director of the Media Office of Ajman Government

Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, has appointed Mohamed Abdullah Al Kaabi '23 as the Executive Director of the Media Office of the Ajman Government. Al Kaabi’s extensive experience in the field of media and communication is set to bolster the success of the Media Office in fulfilling its mandate. With Al Kaabi at the helm, the Media Office is poised to continue serving as a reliable source of information and a bridge between the government and the public, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening its communication efforts and fulfilling its mandate.

The Office of Student Life Explores Union Day through Art

Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services, inaugurated the Union Day Art Exhibition alongside Dr. Mohamed Helal, Director of Student Life, Mouna Fersi Seghir, Artist and Keynote Guest, and Mona Mohammed, Senior Officer of Arts and Student Activities. The event, curated by the Fine Arts Center under the Office of Student Life, marked the 52nd Union Day with over 40 artists of 20 nationalities. Their paintings vividly narrated the UAE's union journey and its remarkable evolution. The exhibition also featured art that celebrated the nation's heritage and traditional vocations.

Live Sketch Workshop Enhances Student Experience at Dubai Quranic Park

The College of Architecture, Art, and Design held a Live Sketch and Joint Workshop at Dubai Quranic Park, uniting first-year and third-year landscape architecture students. The event focused on direct engagement with outdoor and urban spaces through observation and sketching exercises. It offered an excellent chance for seasoned students to mentor newcomers, enhancing community and collaborative learning. Participants enhanced their visual communication and design thinking, deepening their appreciation of the built environment, while the workshop underscored dynamic learning and inclusivity by encouraging idea-sharing across academic levels.

The Communication, Recruitment, and Community Service Committee of the College of Humanities and Sciences held a workshop titled "Supporting Yourself by Yourself" aimed at fostering social responsibility among students. The workshop empowered participants, especially women, to embark on small-scale projects that align with their personal interests and hobbies. Students presented their own initiatives, sharing insights into skill development, project execution, and the challenges and risks they encountered. Highlighting one student's project journey, the workshop demonstrated potential paths for personal growth and social impact, acting as a springboard for cultivating a culture of innovation and self-starting within the university community.


The Interior Design Department Celebrates AU Interior Design Day 2023

The Interior Design Department at Ajman University celebrated AU Interior Design Day 2023, providing a dynamic exploration into the diverse aspects of interior design. The event featured Tala Hamza from JTCPL Designs, discussing industry challenges and triumphs, while Mohammed Kabbani of MAA Interiors delved into specific sector challenges. Mouna Fersi Seghir, an advocate for upcycling art, led a practical wall sculpture design workshop. Senior student Khalid Osama presented on AI in design. An interactive session with students concluded the event, prompting lively dialogue on design's evolving landscape.

Fitze Inter-University Steps Challenge Encourages Healthy Lifestyles

The Office of Human Resources, Office of Student Life, and Office of Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Student Recruitment are rallying faculty and staff to participate in the Fitze Inter-University Dubai 30x30 Challenge. This step-tracking initiative aims to boost well-being, fitness, and healthier living habits. The greater the step count, the higher the chances for individual rewards and for Ajman University to excel in the competition. Currently, Ajman University proudly stands in fourth place among the participating institutions.

The Office of Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Student Recruitment hosted a delegation from Victoria English School. National Flu Vaccination Campaign Enhances Campus Health

In a proactive initiative to uplift health standards on campus, the Office of Medical Services, together with the Office of Sustainability and in collaboration with the Emirates Health Services, successfully conducted the National Flu Vaccination Campaign at Ajman University (AU). The campaign aimed to administer flu vaccinations to the entire AU community, reinforcing the University's dedication to the well-being and safety of its students, faculty, and staff. This health drive is a testament to AU's ongoing commitment to fostering a robust and health-conscious campus environment.

The Office of Sustainability at Ajman University Champions Climate Action with Climate Call Hackathon

The Office of Sustainability spearheaded a significant commitment to climate action through its past initiative, the Climate Call Hackathon. In collaboration with the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), the hackathon aimed to inspire students to devise innovative solutions for pressing climate challenges, including water scarcity, food security, and clean energy. Serving as a platform for discussions on climate action, the event facilitated the exchange of ideas among participants, encouraging the transformation of these ideas into pioneering solutions. Results of this initiative are set to be announced in January 2024.

Sustainability for Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition Announces Winners

The College of Business Administration, in collaboration with the Institute of Environmental Management and Sustainability (IEMS) and BEEAH Education, recently announced the winners of their "Sustainability for Entrepreneurship & Innovation" competition. The four-day event engaged students in workshops, offering practical insights into sustainability, circular economy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Winners included Maryam Yaser, Shahd Albuali, and Shirin Ibrahim with their "GREENSIP" concept, featuring a biodegradable beverage bottle with a plantable seed. The competition aimed to drive sustainability across sectors, providing students with valuable training and encouraging innovative solutions for a greener future.

College of Law and Community Engagement Office Spearhead Climate Action at Flag Park

The College of Law, in partnership with the Community Engagement Office at Ajman University, arranged an educational visit to Flag Park in Ajman to foster awareness of climate change and underscore the significance of sustainable agriculture. This visit supports the curriculum of the Environmental Protection Law course, led by Dr. Khaled Al Jasmi. Students engaged in a hands-on contribution to the environment by distributing 50 Ghaf trees, which are resilient to the harsh conditions of the UAE's desert climate. Additionally, they spearheaded an informative campaign on COP28, educating visitors on the impact of greenhouse gas concentrations on global temperature rise, thereby reinforcing the university's commitment to environmental education and proactive community involvement.

Samir shared industry secrets and trends, equipping future content creators with the tools to stand out in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Civil Engineering Students Explore Middle East Roofing Factory

The Civil Engineering Department organized an insightful visit to the Middle East Roofing Factory, led by Dr. Ahmed Gouda, Dr. Amr Nassr, and Engineer Saeed Hamdan. The visit gave students a firsthand look at the factory’s advanced manufacturing processes and efficient production management. It also provided a valuable platform for students to engage with the industrial sector and gain practical expertise, aligning with Ajman University's commitment to enhancing the learning experience and preparing students for their future careers.

The College of Humanities and Sciences Organizes 'Design Your Career' Lecture

The College of Humanities and Sciences, via its Masar Career Excellence Committee, hosted an enlightening Design Your Career lecture. Dr. Ramzy Abdelaziz from Aalto University led the session, underscoring the importance of communication skills, ongoing self-development, and multilingualism in the modern job market. The talk covered essential skills such as academic writing, public speaking, and effective resume building. An interactive Q&A session wrapped up the event, offering students critical guidance for their professional journeys.


The College of Law Hosts Lecture on Enforcement Procedures

In partnership with Al Tamimi & Company, the College of Law organized a lecture titled "Enforcement Procedures." Senior Counsels, Mr. Majd Baroudi and Mr. Nasser Yahia explored topics such as executive bonds and enforcement regulations. The aim was to equip students with practical insights and enhance their critical thinking through real-life case studies. This initiative is indicative of Ajman University's commitment to providing students with hands-on experiences that are valuable to their academic and professional development.
